Prologue
Mission
Create access to the native history and cultureof New Orleans for future generations.
Vision
Building Community through connection
Commitments
Integrity. Community Empowerment. CulturalReservation. Advocacy. Access
Several New Orleans natives met up over the summer at a mid-city studio a few times and always ended up talking about ways to honour and archive the history and culture of their city natives. We’ve lived in different places but there no place like home. How can we honour our rich heritage and ensure the wisdom of our elders and our collective is archived ethically? Ultimately, our objective is to allow coming generations access to the archives of our culture to ensure the black existence is recorded and passed on indefinitely. We have set out to provide a platform for natives to tell their stories, educate our community, and archive our voices.

I’ve always been an anthropologist at heart includingmy Prep and Xavier Univ Mass Commdays. I’ve traveled the world exploring culture andhow we’re all connected. No matter where Iwent I always found there’s no place like home andhow the familial culture of home allowed meto see the world as extended family and build a homein the world. I’m back to be with familyand to join the cultural community in archiving andhonoring our contributions and ensure ourlegacy is recorded for generations to come and peopleall over the globe can witness the trueculture of NOLA natives.I believe we need to see ourselves and know ourselvesto transform civic engagement andsurvival of our culture. I met a few of the elderswe’ve been documenting and knew ourcommunity would be much better off for it. It’s upto us to secure our history and maintain voicefor our cultural bearers. Fair wages and livable incomekeeps us cultural economy going. We’rehere to ensure the culture and history survives. Ourfamilies deserve a commitment to archivingour legacies. Today, we’re ensuring access to futuregeneration
